How to choose your wedding menu

How To Choose Your Wedding Menu

What’s a great party without delicious food? Your wedding menu is the perfect way to showcase your excellent taste. Let’s dig in.

Here are a few things to consider:

Do you prefer a buffet, plated meal, family-style, or cocktail-style reception? Consider your budget, reception space, and wedding style when choosing your serving style.

What do you both love to eat?

Let your personality shine through the dishes. Do you have a food item that reminds you of a time together?

Are you vegetarian or vegan? Do you or any of your guests have food allergies? Even if this is not the case, remember that variety is key.

At 2Shea Catering, we are here to help! We have various menu options available, from traditional to innovative cuisine. Our team loves making each and every menu personal to our couples, and is here to offer guidance.

Interested in stations but still prefer plated? Let’s chat about incorporating these into cocktail hour or as a late-night snack for your guests to enjoy. Make your wedding truly unique with this simple addition.

Other questions to keep in mind when choosing your menu

What is your wedding theme?

Formal, Romantic, or Rustic are a few of the many wedding themes you can choose from. When choosing formal, you may lean toward a more traditional menu, starting with passed hors d'oeuvres, a deluxe antipasto station , and a delicious meal of your choice inluding and salad and plated entree.. For a romantic theme, you may focus on lush floral arrangements to set the mood. Your decor will be something to consider when thinking about your menu. Short on table space, skip the family-style option and choose a plated meal.. Pull in your theme with mixed glassware and plates, along with natural elements like wood and rope. Rustic wedding themes can be interpreted in many ways, try focusing on entrees that feel appropriate; braised short rib, gourmet mac & cheese, and garden fresh asparagus & carrots. Yum!  No matter your chosen theme, we are excited to help you create the perfect menu to make your day unique.

What season is your wedding?

We live in an incredible area where you can enjoy all of the seasons, and the time of year you choose will help you decide how to create your menu. In the fall, you want your guests to enjoy a cool fall day with warm appetizers like soup & cozy drinks like warm apple cider. In the warmer months, you may want to incorporate something refreshing, like a fresh salad with seasonal fruits, lavender infused lemonade, and a lighter seafood option. No matter what season you choose, creating a menu that reflects the season will help elevate your guests' dining experience and make it a night to remember.

Don’t forget the drinks!

For a summer wedding a must have is a refreshing drink station, especially if your wedding is outside during the summer months. For a winter wedding; a cozy drink that warms your guests up! Signature cocktails are a fun way to express your personality.  It could be a drink that each of you enjoy or even named after your beloved pets! Let us help create the perfect drink to reflect this, or maybe one for each of you?
